Today I am a child of God, today I live for Him, today I am a blessed man, a free man.. today I make choices in His presence, I no longer feel the need to hide from Him or anyone else. Pastor David speaks to At-Risk youth and gang members about about the problems they face unless they choose another way. Jesus Christ is the way and the Life. Its all about choices, some lead to happiness and unity and others lead to pain and separation. What Pastor David says makes sense to them. They have tried everything else and nothing worked. Desire for Sin proves to be a poor choice that leads to a life of fear, anger, loneliness and self destruction. A way out has been provided. We simply have to choose to accept it. Its all about learning how to use free will and participate creatively in the creation out of love and response-ability to the Kingdom, the Kingdom that is the inheritance of all God's sons and daughters.
I was raised by the State for the majority of my life. I was placed in foster care at or around age three. I was put into a juvenile home facility when I was age ten, until I turned thirteen. I was released, to my mother, who died two weeks later. I was in and out of trouble for several years, living on the street and learning how to handle myself on the street. I went to state prison in 1983, I was sentenced to 3-15 years. I've spent 15.5 years of my life in juvenile and state prison. I was hooked on heroin and I shot up or popped, snorted or anything there was out on the streets, from 1979 through 1983. I went to AAA meetings and they saved my life. I know God started to change my life right then. I gave up drugs, but not my criminal activity. It took. me almost 20 years to realize that stealing and crime activity was really always my biggest high. I moved to California from Philadelphia in 1989, thinking I needed a change. I found out that wherever I went, there I was. I had the same kind of element and people around me in _California. I went to prison out here again and again. My life drastically changed in 1996, when a man introduced me to Jesus Christ. I came out of prison and my life style changed. Within two years I owned and operated three companies. Some things from my past surfaced and I had to pay the price for my bad choices. I never lost sight of God again. I stayed focussed on Him and He continued to bless me beyond my wildest dreams. Today, I serve the Lord full-time. I am pastor of Ocean Gate Baptist church in Hawthorn, CA. I am, also, pastor and founder of Ultimate Vision Church in Inglewood, CA. We are reaching out to inner city youth and young adults, with the love of Jesus. I helped co-found Visions of Hope in 1997. It is an organization that works with at risk youth, ex-convicts, prisoners and prominate people in the community, partnering to show our youth, that with every negative choice comes a negative consequence. I am blessed to be able to do this work. I share a living testimony to the power of my Lord and my God Jesus Christ. If He can take someone as ugly as me and touch my heart to change me and use me for good today, then I must praise Him. Imagine what he can to for you right now. You don't need to make the same mistakes I did. You can start right now, Today! It doesn't matter where you come from or what color you are. Black, White or Brown, it doesn't matter! God can touch you right where you are and change your life Forever. He's done it for me! He wants to do it for you !!!
